About the Medical Education Department

The Medical Education Department at Aspetar provides local, regional and international healthcare professionals and students with high quality, cutting edge, and evidence-based sports medicine and science education. We are committed to deliver excellence to all our stakeholders – healthcare professionals and scientists in training (undergraduate and postgraduate), athletes and coaches, patients, and the community, to improve and support clinical care, and patient health outcomes.


We deliver a comprehensive education program in five key pillars: Continuing Medical Education / Continuing Professional Development (CME/CPD), Student Education, Aspetar Sports Medicine Journal, Centre for Evidence-Based Sports Medicine and Science, and Patient and Community Education.


Key objectives are to:

  • Support and provide accredited CME/CPD activities for licensed healthcare professionals
  • Maintain Qatar Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Healthcare Professionals (DHP) -accredited CPD provider status
  • Support Aspetar to develop and expand graduate and undergraduate medical education in sports medicine and science
  • Contribute as key partners to develop accredited sports medicine fellowship programs in primary care sports medicine and orthopaedic sports medicine
  • Contribute as key partners to expand Aspetar’s Clinical Specialist Fellowship program for specialist physicians in sports medicine, orthopaedic surgery, sports cardiology and musculoskeletal radiology
  • Support high quality and evidence-based patient and public (including athlete and coach) health education
  • Develop a Centre for Evidence-Based Sports Medicine and Science
  • Support Aspetar to develop and implement evidence-based clinical guidelines and pathways for conditions relevant to athlete health and performance
