NSMP Sports Medicine Services

NSMP is in the unique position of having the capability and knowledge to coordinate and drive a national approach in ensuring education, injury prevention, and injury and illness management is available for all registered athletes within Qatar, including national teams.

NSMP’s vision for exceptional sports medicine services includes providing world class clinic-based services within existing clubs and nominated federations in Qatar. Through placing highly skilled sport specific practitioners throughout Qatar’s clubs and federations, NSMP clinicians provide the critical link between their facility and Aspetar, ensuring excellence in unified best practice high standards are delivered across all onsite clinics.

Working in tandem with the Ministry of Youth and Sport (MOYS) and Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), as well as other sporting authorities in Qatar such as the Supreme Council for Development and Legacy (SCDL, formerly Q22), NSMP aims to continue the development of world class clinics within existing and future clubs and federations under our care and guidance, ensuring that they are also provided with effectively integrated Aspetar services.

Deployed clinicians, namely sports doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists and nurses, are all expertly evaluated for their insight into and knowledge and experience of sport before being placed in any club or federation under NSMP’s care. Our existing team’s strength and wide range of clinical diversity is growing steadily as more and more clubs and federations seek our high level of service and wide range of insight into clinical service delivery to athletes throughout Qatar.

Carefully selected practitioners with in depth knowledge of numerous medical services will work closely and directly with specific sporting groups, and will also provide services within other areas that fall under the broad range of sporting categories, including individual athletes or event coverage, based on their skill and expertise.

NSMP’s clinical based approach will standardise care across all clubs and federations. By creating a focal point within each facility it will increase the availability of practitioners for multiple sports, teams and individuals, and will foster a multi-disciplinary approach to athlete management. A successful application of this multi-disciplinary approach allowed a safe return to sport during the COVID19 Pandemic and the NSMP medical staff played a major role in educating and applying safety measures during training and competition in all sports events.

In the treatment of injuries, Aspetar believes that prevention and preparation are essential; something which is reflected in our screening programme, education of athletes, and research. By integrating cutting-edge research with daily clinical practice, both in the hospital and on the playing field, and providing outstanding care to athletes at all levels as part of our on-going mission to ‘assist athletes to achieve their maximum performance and full potential,’ Aspetar offers a complete solution in the field of sports medicine.
