Dr Nathan Townsend

Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology - Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Dr Nathan Townsend is Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology in the College of Health & Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha Qatar. He has a background in exercise and sport science with extensive industry, research and teaching academic experience.  His PhD was completed at the Australian Institute of Sport and he has previously held positions at NSW Institute of Sport, Deakin University and Aspetar Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Hospital, Qatar.

Dr Townsend has worked with World Championship gold medalists and has over 50 research publications and international conference presentations. His main area of expertise and interests are the effect of hypoxia and oxygen transport on physiological responses to exercise, effect of exercise intensity on aerobic and anaerobic energy expenditure, and modeling fatigue during high-intensity interval exercise using the critical power framework.
