Doha 27-03-2011: English Premier League star Tim Cahill has flown into Qatar to receive injury maintenance and rehabilitation at Aspetar, Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. With international matches being played this week, Everton gave their players four days break and Cahill took the opportunity to fly to Qatar to receive maintenance on some injuries he has been carrying. “When I heard we had a break I immediately decided to come to Aspetar to do some treatment and rehabilitation,” said Cahill. “Not only do I get excellent treatment here but I stay in touch with the staff who are developing an individualized program for me to follow that will help me become a better athlete.” “Aspetar has everything you could ask for in one place. I can come here and focus on rehabilitation as it provides a full sports medicine package.” “A place like Aspetar will help prolong my career and keep me playing at the highest level possible.” Cahill has had an exhaustive workload having represented Australia at 2010 FIFA World Cup, AFC Asian Cup 2010 and matches for his club in the past year. “We have a heavy schedule but I want to get back here any time I can. Even if I am not injured, if I get a few days off I will be straight back to Aspetar to help keep me in shape.” “I feel privileged that everyone is so welcoming to me. I like to come here not only for treatments but also to bring my family for holidays.” “I will return to do more work in the pre-season and while I am here I want to give something back and help inspire Qataris to play football.” “It is important that we all play a role in continuing to develop football right across Asia.” Aspetar physiotherapist Rodney Whiteley worked with Cahill during his visit. Cahill invited teammate and Captain Phil Neville to join him at Aspetar and give him the chance to visit Qatar for the first time. “Tim speaks very highly of Aspetar and Qatar so I was keen to come and see it for myself,” said Neville. “The quality of the sports medicine services available and the facilities here are fantastic,” said Neville.
