Dr Peter Verdonk

Professor Dr Peter Verdonk, MD, PhD is a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Antwerp Orthopaedic Center (Monica Hospitals) and Professor at the university of Antwerp. He is also a visiting surgeon at Aspetar. His clinical and research interests are knee surgery and arthroplasty with a particular focus on meniscus substitution and cartilage repair. He has obtained his PhD degree at the Ghent University in 2006 on ‘The Human Meniscus: characterization, transplantation and tissue engineering’. He received his orthopaedic training in Ghent University, and was a fellow of Prof. Bellemans in Leuven and of Prof. Neyret in Lyon. He has been an international traveling fellow for the International Cartilage Repair Society in 2004 and of the European Society of Sport Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy in 2007. He is also involved in a number of national and international scientific organisations (ESSKA, ICRS, ISAKOS, AOSSM,).
