Delivered through Aspetar’s eLearning platform, the programme is designed for healthcare professionals working in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and performance environments, where safeguarding challenges are often complex and evolving. The course will emphasise that safeguarding extends beyond policy awareness and must be embedded into everyday clinical practice. Participants will explore how risks may arise during routine med i c a l exami na t i on s , rehabilitation programmes, and athlete support activities, highlighting the importance of professional responsibility, respectful interactions, and safe clinical environments. A key focus will be placed on identifying safeguarding risks and recognising indicators of potential harm. Participants will examine behavioural, physical, and contextual warning signs, alongside broader issues such as athlete vulnerability, power dynamics , and external performance pressures. The programme will also address effect ive communi cat ion strategies, equipping clinicians to support athlete disclosure while fostering trust, comfort, and psychological safety. Practical guidance will be provided on maintaining professional boundaries when working with minors, including consent and assent procedures, appropriate use of chaperones, confidentiality, documentation, and reporting pathways aligned with ethical and legal standards.
