Aspetar at the Forbes Middle East Medical Tourism & Wellness Summit Aspetar Sets New Benchmark in Football Injury Prevention Aspetar has implemented its Sports Injury and Illness Risk Management Plan (RMP) across all 18 professional football clubs in Qatar, marking a significant advancement in injury prevention at league level. The initiative introduces a structured, data-driven approach to managing player health, enabling clubs to identify, assess, and prioritise risks at team, player, and seasonal levels. During its implementation, a total of 809 risks were identified, an average of 45 per team, with the majority linked to individual players, highlighting the importance of persona l i sed prevent ion strategies. From these, 265 priority risks were addressed through 354 targeted interventions, including i nd i v i dua l i sed s t reng t h p rog ramme s , enhanced communication processes, and optimised load management strategies tailored to the demands of the competition calendar. As Mr. Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi, Acting Director General of Aspetar, stated: “ Prevention has always been at the heart of Aspetar’s work… we are investing in players’ long-term health and offering a model that can shape the future of football worldwide. ” Supported by scientific research and full league engagement, this initiative reflects a shift toward col lective, evidence-based prevention, reinforcing Aspetar’s role in advancing global standards in sports medicine and athlete health protection.
