Dr Rafael Santos

Sports Medicine Physician

Dr Rafael Santos is a sports physician with a passion for sports and the profession. With previous experience as a football athlete, Dr Santos graduated in Medicine at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil, and completed the Sports Medicine Medical residency at the Universidade de Sao Paulo, FIFA Medical Centre. He has worked in a multitude of  sports and has participated as a team physician in various international and local competitions, including for Brazilian national football teams (Womens U15/First Team) and basketball teams (U15/U16 and First Team), and providing medical coverage for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil and the Rio Olympics 2016. Dr Santos joined Aspetar in 2018 as a Sports Medicine Fellow until 2019, and worked at Aspire Academy before joining the current Aspetar Sports Medicine Department. His special interests are in MSK injuries, MSK US, football medicine, cycling, and sports performance.
