Ken Van Alsenoy

Head of Podiatry

Mr. Ken Van Alsenoy is a Belgian Podiatrist with over 20 years of experience and specializes in the treatment of foot and lower limb injuries.  Currently he is Head of Podiatry and active Senior Podiatrist in the Research and Scientific Support Department at Aspetar Orthopeadic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar.  He holds a Master in Podiatry and is a PhD Candidate at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He has authorship in several peer-reviewed publications.  

Prior to working in Aspetar hospital, Ken spent 15 years as a Podiatrist in several private multidisciplinary clinics, mainly dealing with athletes from recreational level to elite.  During this time, he also was a part-time Podiatry faculty staff at the Artevelde University College and a visiting lecturer at renowned universities, such as the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm - Sweden, the University of Malta and several Universities in Spain.

Since moving to in the Middle East in 2014, Ken worked as part of the medical team at high profile tournaments and Championships.

Career Achievements

  • Founding board member of the Flemish Podiatry Federation 
  • Invited visiting lecturer on clinical biomechanics of the lower limb and orthotic therapy at several renowned universities, such as the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm - Sweden, the University of Malta and several Universities in Spain.
  • Medical team member at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open and Qatar Total Open Tennis tournaments between 2015 and 2018
  • Medical team member for the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships at the Corniche venue.
  • Sports Podiatrist for several elite athletes in football (Premier league, France league 1, National team players from Turkey, Tunisia, Finland) Track and Field (US, Qatar), Handball (France, Qatar).
  • Reviewer for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sports, Journal of foot and ankle research and prosthetics and orthotics international.
