Sports Pharmacy

The pharmacy works in collaboration with both medical staff and other external care providers to offer the highest standard of pharmaceutical and clinical care to ensure the best medical practice is available and maintained at all times. This medication management expertise is reflected in the service that is offered to every patient under our care.

Above all else, our pharmacists are aware of which medicines are permitted, restricted and prohibited by the relevant governing bodies in specific sports, and ensure our patients are educated and advised by providing the most up to date information available. In addition to this, our pharmacists are qualified to offer counseling to athletes, their coaches and support staff, as well as parents and even the public when required. Our pharmacists can also assist our patients should they require assistance or advice on supplements and over-the-counter medicines.

Aspetar’s Pharmacy Department provides medication for all facets of hospital care, including our operating theatres and services for both in and out patients, and are therefore meticulous in maintaining and updating a list of the medications required and kept on site. We also support external facilities, such as sports clubs and federations, and supply medical coverage at all levels of sporting events.

The pharmacy has an important role in delivering clinical services and makes use of the most sophisticated automation services available to ensure we uphold our responsibilities in accurately distributing and dispensing all forms of medication to our patients. As a department, the Aspetar Pharmacy Department aims to be recognised internationally as a leader in the Sports Pharmacy field.
