Introduction – what is COVID-19?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease (infection) caused by a special type of coronavirus. It can cause a cough, fever (temperature >37.8°C) and shortness of breath. It is highly contagious and mainly spreads from person to person by coughing, sneezing and close personal contact. It was first identified in Wuhan, the capital city of China’s Hubei province but has now spread globally.
