138 ASPETAR MAGAZINE ASPETAR CHAMPION While the goal is ambitious, Dr. Jamal is quick to remind others that his mission is not about professional competition: “I am not a professional athlete; I am an ordinary person who loves sports.” Through this journey, he aims to inspire others in the community to pursue a more active lifestyle and embrace the role of sport in everyday life: “Sports are not exclusive to professionals; they are a way of life that can change howwe see ourselves and our capabilities. I hope my journey serves as a simple example of what determination and perseverance can achieve.” Dr. Jamal also expressed his gratitude to Aspetar Hospital and the Aspire Foundation for their ongoing support, highlighting the positive environment that fosters work-life balance and physical wellbeing. Since sharing his journey with Aspetar Magazine, Dr. Jamal Rashid Al-Khanji is now approaching a truly remarkable feat: becoming the first Arab to complete all six World Marathon Majors within a single year, a distinction achieved by only around 300 runners worldwide. His journey began with the London Marathon in April 2025, followed by Berlin in September, Chicago in October, and most recently, the New York City Marathon. He is now preparing for the Tokyo Marathon in March 2026 and the Boston Marathon in April 2026, which would complete the challenge and earn him the prestigious Six Star Finisher Medal.
