Dr. Liesel Geertsema

Sports Medicine Physician

Dr Geertsema is a New Zealand trained Sports Medicine Physician with experience in treating male and female athletes across a wide range of international sports. She has been involved in a number of top-level competitions, including the 2006 Winter Olympics, 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2008 FIFA U/17 Women’s World Cup. She has a special interest in winter sports, adventure racing and multi-sport.

  • 1997:M.B.Ch.B. University of Stellenbosch, South Africa
  • 2005: PGDipSM (Post-graduate diploma of Sports Medicine,cum laude).University of Otago,Dunedin, New Zealand
  • 2008:FACSP (Fellow of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians)

 

Career Achievements
  • 2006: New Zealand Medical Team Leader at the Torino Winter Olympic Games
  • 2008-2010: Medical Director of BikeNZ
  • 2010: Co-founder of Sports Doctors, a specialist referral Sports Medicine clinic in Christchurch, New Zealand
  • 2010: New Zealand Team doctor at the Delhi Commonwealth Games
