The tournament, which ran from February 11 to 16, featured some of the world’s greatest tennis players, including world number two, Petra Kvitova; number three, Simona Halep; and world number four, Sloane Stephens.

As part of its efforts to prevent injuries and ensure players are fit to compete at their highest performance level, Aspetar also offered players customised physiotherapy solutions. Players received and used Aspetar’s state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities, designed to treat injured athletes from all over the world.

Last year, The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has awarded a medical team from Aspetar with the 2017 Irving Glick Award of Excellence for providing the highest quality medical services to WTA athletes. The award recognises the contribution of physicians from Aspetar in supporting athletes at a number of major tournaments, including the Qatar Total Open.

Providing medical support to international championships in the State of Qatar stems from Aspetar’s mission to assist athletes to achieve their maximum performance and potential
