Aspetar to organise the 8th World Radiography Day Symposium

04/11/2018 12:00 AM

The symposium is designed for medical personnel interested in radiography, its development, and the newest techniques in the medical field given radiography’s pivotal role in the development of the global medical industry.

Organized for the eighth consecutive year by Aspetar, the event will begin with interactive sessions led by health professionals, researchers and radiologists drawn from Aspetar, Sidra Medicine and Hamad Medical Corporation. The morning sessions will be followed by informative workshops during which participants will examine an ultrasound of the shoulder and thigh, finally a Q&A panel with international experts.

Commenting on the symposium, the Chairperson of the Symposium’s Scientific Planning Committee and Director of Medical Imaging at Aspetar,

Mrs. Salwa Allenjawi, said:

Our symposium is a multidisciplinary fair representing all aspects of a teams-based approach to radiology. It is part of our growing effort to bring together experts in their fields to promote knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals, especially those who work with sport injuries.

This includes raising their awareness of radiography as a career, as a vital contribution to modern healthcare systems and as a chance to increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy. The objective of the event is to shed light on hamstring, thigh, groin and shoulder injury management, as well as the use of radiology examinations in development of youth athletes.,

Mrs. Salwa added.

World Radiography Day takes place on the 8th of November each year. It commemorates the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by German physicist Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895, an achievement that earned him the Nobel Prize for Physics six years later.

Aspetar is accredited by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) to provide continuing medical education for healthcare practitioners. This symposium has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the QCHP.
