For the seventh consecutive year, Aspetar’s team of sports medicine physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and massage therapists will deliver medical services and support to athletes and their delegations for the duration of the three-day competition.

Aspetar has also installed a fully-equipped bespoke clinic at Hamad Aquatic Centre to provide on-site medical support and intervention in case of any emergency.

In addition, the swimmers will have access to Aspetar’s world-class facilities and consultancy services provided as part of the hospital’s role as an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health.

Over the past decade, Aspetar has become a key delivery partner in the country’s success of hosting leading international sports tournaments. Our ability to host flawless events and provide leading medical services to the world’s leading athletes would not have been possible without the team’s relentless pursuit of wanting to help athletes achieve their maximum performance and full potential”, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Aspetar Acting Chief Executive Officer.

“We would like to thank Qatar Swimming Association to accomplish our mission to host a successful event as Aspetar continues its commitment to provide world-class medical services. The harmonious collaboration between international and Qatari sports organisations, evidenced with Aspetar and FINA, is clear evidence that the country is one of the world’s leading organisers and supporters of international sports events” he concluded.

President of Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) Khaleel Al Jabir expressed: “Aspetar is a worldwide sports medicine reference, with highly qualified staff and cutting edge technology. We, at QSA, have had faith in their experience ever-since the first tournament in 2012.

He added

“I would like to extend my thanks to those who have supported us during the previous tournaments. I’m sure that this year’s edition will be exceptional”.

Aspetar has become the preferred training camp destination for national swimming teams of South Africa, Australia, France, and the United Kingdom for their ‘live high-train low’ programmes.

Aspetar houses a state-of-the art acclimatisation facility enabling teams of up to 50 athletes benefit from advanced high-altitude recovery practices in a highly professional and comfortable environment.

The hospital has also recently hosted a number of swimming stars including Tunisia’s Freestyle World Champion and three-time Olympic medallist, Oussama Mellouli, and the South African Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games champion, Chad le Clos, who described the support and expertise of Aspetar as “a real help in enabling me to train and perform to the best of my abilities.”
