Commenting on the agreement,Dr. Mohamed Ghaith Al Kuwari, Acting Director General at Aspetar, said:

I would like to welcome Dr. MacLeod, President of CNA-Q, and the accompanying delegation, to Aspetar. This is an important collaborative step towards our joint vision of improving education in Qatar. We have signed several agreements in the past and applied them through training medical students and postgraduate trainees in medicine, nursing and other specialisms

He added:

This presents a good opportunity for both sides to amplify their efforts in providing exceptional education in healthcare and sports medicine, and we hope to see more students training at Aspetar in the coming academic year

CNA-Q President Dr. Ken MacLeod said:

The partnership we have with Aspetar, which supports our students to achieve academic success and personal growth through their work-term placements, is vital. Aspetar is a highly respected institution, and showcasing our expanding working relationship confirms our commitment to the state of Qatar. It is through these partnerships that the School of Health Sciences can continue to produce highly skilled and qualified health care practitioners into the workforce of Qatar

From his side, Dr. Scott Gillogly, Chief Medical Officer at Aspetar, said:

Signing this agreement with CNA-Q, which has been operational in Qatar for 14 years, is another example of the expertise Aspetar shares with students in applied sciences, radiology and dentistry amongst others, which are all specialisms that are crucial to the provision of a comprehensive educational offering to students in Qatar and the region.  It also helps increase the number of trainees at Aspetar, and motives the hospital’s staff and experts to present the best sports medicine services.

This partnership will provide CNA-Q students enrolled in the health sciences programmes with day-to-day supervision in formal and informal teaching sessions throughout the period of the programme, under the supervision of Aspetar’s qualified staff and the clinical instructors of CNA-Q experts.

The students will also have the opportunities to go through training programmes in several specialities. These include the pharmacy technician programme, the radiology programme, the dental assistant programme and the respiratory therapy programme.

Aspetar regularly welcomes members of the local community and elite athletes from different sports around the world for screening, treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital features centres of excellence for sports medicine, sports science, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. From injury to recovery, Aspetar offers the athlete complete multidisciplinary treatment in one location.
