Pre-participation screening is a key element of any sports medicine programme.
The value of screening is perceived as two-fold.

Firstly, it allows the recognition and appropriate management of significant medical and musculoskeletal health issues, which may otherwise have a negative impact on the health of the individual.

Secondly, it provides the opportunity to recognise and manage issues that may negatively impact upon athletic performance which may otherwise be missed.
